I Bought A Cow!

Filed Under (General, Health) by Lisa Ruggles on 19-11-2008

I did, I bought a cow yesterday.  A full grown heifer, this one will be grass fed and free from all the hormones and antibotics used in the meat industry.

Over the last three or four years I have been gradually moving toward purchasing organic food.  I try to buy my beef, chicken breasts, milk and eggs organic.

The least expensive way to purchase beef is to buy a side.  It actually works out to be cheaper than buying the “regular” meat at the store. While it cost more all at once, over time we end up saving quite a bit of money compared to buying the meat (full of antibiotics and hormones) at the grocery.

My parents are taking half and I will have the other half.

For those of you thinking, will she take the front half or the back half.  Neither, I will take a side of beef.  I can’t wait for my freezer to be full of good meat!  I call and let the butcher know how I want it cut up.  Steaks, roasts, hamburger, swiss steaks, stew meat, Yummy!

If you are in the Indiana area and are interested in purchasing beef let me know.

(excerpt from “How to Feel Great all the Time” by Valerie Saxon)

I have had quite a few questions regarding fasting. If you are interested in knowing more there is an excellent book called. “How to Feel Great all the Time” by Valerie Saxon. I highly suggest this book before you start any fasting. She gives the benefits and how to do it safely.

Cheers!

I made this specialty drink up for Brad and I. Doesn’t it look like an awesome drink? So red and yummy.

The first half of the glass I can down pretty good, but by the time I get to the second half I’m just thankful the bottom of the glass is near. It is freshly juiced carrots and beets. Quite the cleansing combo. :)

We started a 21 day fast from sugar, processed foods, meat, and dairy. Today is day 8, and it feels like day 28.

14 more to go!
