Weight Confessions #1
Categories: (weight loss) by Lisa Ruggles on 27-01-2009
I have contemplated recording my weight loss process here for about 3 months. Each time I chickened out. Probably because I never started losing it. :) I didn’t want to expose this side of me but seriously the only person I’m fooling is myself.
So here it goes. I have struggled with losing about 30 lbs for 6 years. After Chloe I got it all off but 5 lbs. and then came Emily, and lets just say that baby weight decided to hang on for the ride.
I have lost the same five lbs and gained it back more times than I can count. I have struggled with being depressed over the weight gain. I know that I’m physically not in the place where I need to be. At this weight I’m at risk for diabetes and heart disease. I know how to eat healthy. I know how to exercise. I love how I feel when I do these things.
My new journey to health began two weeks ago. I’m counting calories and exercising on the elliptical we just got in December. A nasty flu-bug derailed me the second week but I’m now back on track.
So far I’ve lost 5lbs.
25 more to go (my goal is 20 lbs by June).
I am by no means an expert but I will be posting tips and tricks I find. If you want to join me in this journey let me know!

Hi! I’m a lurker on your blog, but I wanted to tell you that this post is very inspiring to me. I’ve also been contemplating going public with my weightloss woes and your transparency here is really encouraging. Thank you!

i am NO expert at this by any means… but it’s always important for me to remember that what you eat is HUGE to weight loss. i’m on the loose 10 pounds thing and i try to have “treats” rather than get into bad habits… and i have horrible willpower!
good luck lisa, i know you can do it!

i give you a lot of credit for going public with your decision and your journey. i’m raising a light beer in your honor tonight!

That’s great Lisa! Good luck! =)
I’m hopefully going to be taking kickboxing lessons this summer to get in shape…that way I can go up to the 4th floor of the Science Building at IPFW without practically passing out! =P
Lisa, I think you are already gorgeous! What ever weight that you lose will only improve your gorgeousness (if that’s even a word, lol)!
SOmeday I will be doing the same after kids. I will call you up
Good luck on your loss
For the record, I agree completely with Heather. My wife is smoking hot already and I won’t love her more or less because of her weight. However, this is something that is important to her so I’m standing behind her to encourage and support her all the way.
She’s the most rockingist, fandamntastic wife in the world and I’m so proud of her!!

You can do it Lisa!!! Good job with the 5 lbs. That is a great start! And you WILL get past that 5 lbs.
The thing that helped (and still helps) me is keeping a food journal/notebook. It really shows you just what you actually eat during the day (and how fast it all adds up!) I still would like to lose 10-ish more pounds. Guess we can keep at it together!
PS…ditto to Abbey and Brad….you are gorgeous woman!
I hear you sister! I can’t even weigh myself anymore. I juts know that my clothes don’t fit. I’m trying but it is just so hard — for me it’s all emotional.

I like your honesty, i too have some weight which comes off and goes back on. Many people can reach a weight loss plateau but with some perseverance you will break through it and reach your goals. Making a commitment as you have on your blog will “force” you to commit to your goal.
I just posted my 16 week goal to lose 40lb on another blog today.
Hello,
Encouraging stuff, I’m glad that you make a goal for yourself and hopefully you will act on it and never cheat. I know alot from others experience and from me also that most of our confidence came from our physical appearance. I hope you meet your goal as soon as possible. And see the confident you.

Just stick with it! Weight loss takes determination.
It takes a lot of resolve and plenty of consistancy. I wish you the best of luck!
